TRANSPORT
To combat the ever-increasing haulage costs, we run a transport department.
This ensures
• The cost of material movement is minimised.
• The client receives a prompt and efficient service.
• Specifically designed vehicles for materials handling.
The specialist fleet can handle over a 1000 tonnes per day (best to date
2,550 tonnes in ten hours). The vehicles range from 5 to 45 cubic metre
containers, that can be left on site, 38 tonne bulk tipping lorries, 38
tonne flat back trailers, international tilts and special heavy haulage
handling 250 tonne single movements.
In addition to the Hitchin processing facility the company operates a
demolition division, which is capable of clearing sites at the rate of
25,000 tonnes of material per month in an Environmentally friendly and safe
manner.

DEMOLITION WORKS
The division is on all major tender lists and has expertise in all facets of
demolition and “stripouts”, including hazardous materials. Major contracts
have included Vauxhall, Rover, British Aerospace and Power Stations. The
Division has insurance cover for one million pounds, which is increased
depending upon the contracts they enter into. CDM regulations are always
adhered to regardless of the size of the job.
MACHINERY DIVISION
To complete our client service we run a useful machinery division, which
over the years has purchased large quantities of machines, particularly from
the motor manufacturing industry. This continues to ensure our clients
maximise recovery revenue.
FACTORY WASTE & RECOVERY CONTRACTS
Long and short-term contracts are available to businesses producing waste
materials arising through manufacturing. Many of these waste materials are
recovered for re-use or recycling and can often offset and optimise contract
values. The service is compliant to ISO 140002.
In addition a secure mutilation service is available for sensitive products,
which for a variety of reasons must not re-enter the supply chain. The
service operates under security and to the satisfaction of customs and
excise.
FERROUS & NON-FERROUS METALS
Ferrous and non-ferrous metals are purchased in all forms and processing is
carried out by state-of-the-art technology and within the regulatory control
of the Environmental Protection Act 1990. The operation has maintained its
Waste Management Licence
(92/280) since 1992 and a Waste Carriers Licence (HRT 430136), ensuring
suppliers are compliant under the “Duty of Care” regulations. The size of
purchase can vary from 60,000 tonne demolition contracts to a one kilo
purchase from a local householder.
PROCESSING
A heavy-duty fragmentiser is at the heart of the processing, converting
complete motor vehicles into raw materials for secondary melting. The
operation recovers over 99% of all metals and separates the ferrous from the
non-ferrous ensuring the maximum value is extracted, while minimising waste.
The fragmentiser also cleans and recovers for recycling: household goods,
engineering scrap, agricultural scrap and surplus manufacturing materials
from metal-based products.
CONTAINER SERVICE
The company will collect material in de-mountable containers, varying in
size from 4 cubic metres to 40 cubic metres, with same-day collection
service. The materials value is maximised and environmental legislation
complied with.
EDUCATION
The organisation is happy to support schools, colleges, local government and
business on the benefits of recycling and how to maximise recovery and add
back value.
